Maintenance (2 positions)

Qualifications:

Maintenance/Grounds staff will be required to drive camp vehicles, and must have a valid driver's license and good driving record. They will be required to lift heavy objects.

These staff members typically have experience with carpentry, plumbing, electrical, and working with power tools.

Duties:

Experience preferred in areas of carpentry, plumbing, electrical, and working with power tools. Duties include general camp maintenance of all facilities and grounds. Some specific duties may include repairing or building of camp structures, electrical wiring, cutting wood, and some custodial duties as well as assisting the grounds position as needed. Will be on call two evenings a week in addition to the regular daytime hours. Needs common sense, and have an eye for safety and concern for the physical welfare of others. Be able to perceive and recognize hazardous situations. Must be able to follow through till the job is done, sometimes outside of the regular work hours. Not a clock-watcher. Able to work alone majority of time with minimal direction. Must be able to lift heavy objects. Driving of camp vehicles required. Must have valid driver's license and good driving record.

Grounds (2 positions)

Qualifications:

Maintenance/Grounds staff will be required to drive camp vehicles, and must have a valid driver's license and good driving record. They will be required to lift heavy objects.

These staff members typically have experience with carpentry, plumbing, electrical, and working with power tools.

Duties:

Maintenance staff conduct general camp maintenance of all facilities and grounds. Some specific duties may include repairing or installing sprinkler lines, repairing or building camp structures, electrical wiring, cutting wood, and some custodial duties. Maintenance/Grounds staff are also responsible for the upkeep of lawns, flower beds, shrubs, trails, and the general appearance of the camp by mowing, watering, weeding, pruning, planting, and completing other assignments. In addition to working regular daytime hours, these staff members are on call two evenings a week. They have common sense, as well as an eye for safety and a concern for the physical welfare of others. They are able to perceive and recognize hazardous situations. Maintenance staff must be able to follow through until the job is done, sometimes outside of regular work hours, without watching the clock. They should be able to work alone with minimal direction.

Characteristics:

Maintenance/Grounds staff have the ability to learn new skills quickly. They are teachable, self-starters, full of initiative, dependable, and have a strong work ethic.

Custodial (5 positions)

Qualifications:

Custodians will be required to drive camp vehicles, and must have a valid driver's license and good riving record.

Duties:

Responsible for keeping the camp restrooms, shower and laundry facilities, etc. clean and functional. Supply inventories, ordering and occasional maintenance projects are included in these positions. Will also be responsible for the upkeep of the lawns, flower beds, shrubs, trails, and general appearance of the campgrounds by mowing, watering, weeding, pruning, planting, and other assignments as directed by the supervisor. Able to make routine cleaning and maintenance "fun". Driving of camp vehicles required. Must have valid driver's license and good driving record.

Characteristics:

Aspen Grove custodians need to be willing to work hard and get dirty. They should be teachable, self-starters, dependable, cheerful, personable, service-oriented, be full of initiative, and have a strong work ethic.
